Orange Theory Review

Let me preface this post with letting you in on a little secret that all of my friends already know... I loathe exercise. No, for real. Seriously. Naturally you're wondering why I would torture myself and the answer is two-fold:

1. I'm not in very good shape and would like to change that
2. It was free

If you haven't tried or even heard of Orange Theory Fitness (OTF), it's a 60-minute hybrid workout. Half aerobic and half strength training. You don't hang out and talk to people while you wait for a machine to free up - you have an assigned machine, you get in there and DO WORK. The cool thing about OTF is that everything can be done from your phone. You sign up for classes there, they send you workout summaries there, you can book classes at other OTF locations if you're traveling or whatnot - you get the picture. It's also cool that the workouts are different every day and that it's half cardio and half strength training. The energy was high, and you wear a heart rate monitor that displays on a big screen along with everyone else's. There were definitely times I would have slacked off if I hadn't seen for myself where in the "zone" I actually was. The facility was cool, the people were motivating and the workout kicked my a$$. That is why is costs over $100 a month for just 2 classes a week. I'm glad I tried it. I'm not down with the price tag though so I am going to try another high-tech fitness option that is at a lower price point that I will tell you about in a future post.
